Housing values vary substantially from block to block within the Making Connections community.  Generally, assessed housing values have been far below the median for the city—low enough to serve as a disincentive for housing investment.  The median value of single family and duplex properties in the Making Connections area is $62,300 in 2005, compared to $112,300 in the city. Two of the neighborhoods have experienced dramatic increases in value recently.  Values in Cold Spring rose from a median of $53,800 in 2002 to $114,500 in 2005 – a 113% increase.   Although housing values have been rising, in recent years many local neighborhoods have lost ground relative to the city, which also experienced dramatic increases in value.
