In 1990, the largest proportion of children were ages 5 to 9. By 2001, young teens (ages 10-14) become the predominate age group.
Very young children (ages 0 -4) are 10.5% of all persons in the Making Connections area, compared to 8.0% citywide. 3,320 children under 5 years old lived in Making Connections neighborhoods at the time of the 2000 U.S. Census.
The map demonstrates that a larger proportion of very young children live in the Washington Park and Walnut Hill neighborhoods.
