Welcome to the Data Center

Support for Informed Decisions...

Welcome to the Data Center's web site, an online resource for maps and data about Milwaukee.  It is our intent to make this web site as easy to use as possible, and we'd appreciate any feedback on difficulties you encounter using this site.

Site Navigation

Navigation links along the top of the page are constant and available across the entire site. The "Map Collection" is a large number of maps produced by the Data Center using GIS.  "Data Tables" are based primarily on Census data and are prepared using Excel and Crystal Reports.  The "Documents" page contains information about Data Center projects, searchable metadata, and a summary of data sources available in Milwaukee.  The "Search" page utilizes Google to search our site and contains links to all of the search functions in the site-wide.  "Home" returns one to this page.

The left column contains page specific navigation and how to use these links will be explained on the first page that they appear.  "About the Data Center" describes the Data Center program and its staff.  "Contact Us" contains our address, phone number, and email contact information.  "External Links" is an annotated list of links to various City of Milwaukee Departments and agencies that work within the city.

Special Publications

In the Summer of 2005, we completed a comprehensive neighborhood profile of the Making Connections Milwaukee neighborhood - "Challenges and Opportunities: A Data Profile of the Making Connections Milwaukee Community"

The Data Center was featured in the Spring 2006 issue of the Nonprofit Center's Quarterly "Urban Connection" Publication.  "The Value of Data" is a page containing more detail and web links for articles featured in that issue.

The Data Center Staff publish two email messages on a very infrequent schedule, one focusing on local community data with links to national and local reports and data sources, the second on computer security issues. Subscribe Here

We host a collection of historic City of Milwaukee Master Property files here. WARNING - We provide no support for these files, and they are provided for research purposes only. For official property information, contact the City of Milwaukee, or use the "My Milwaukee Home" Web Application.
